I've been playing the Evony game for a couple of months and find it pretty interesting - so long as I keep logging in often enough not to miss the first few hours off beginners protection (7days or until you upgrade your town hall past level 4). I've had a few re-starts as I learn the game but the strategic building game is pretty cool.

Zero Points For Homeless Awareness Content

I've been involved sort of half-heartedly with a game that was promoted through Facebook a while back. It's called HoboWars. The game has an urban setting and members are hobos or homeless people who must navigate around a city to do such activities as panhandling outside of a store, attempting to go to school to get smarter (starting from grade 1??), and trying to avoid a thorough SH*T-kicking at the hands of other hobos.

I don't even have to ask how much creators of this game relied on the most general, obvious and dramatic stereotypes of hobos or homeless people, but a store which sells weapons to hobos in this game so they can beat each other or protect themselves from being beaten on is just a bit too much!

I know it is a game - and as I already said, I've been "INVOLVED" with playing this online RPG game for a while. Mostly, I log in and find out that dozens of players have attacked me while I have been logged out, and that the players with the highest scores have earned 5-digit money amounts in order to purchase weapons with which to beat me while I'm away lol

Naturally, the game strays quite far from real life situations. In which city that you know of are hobos able to come up with from $6, 000 to $13, 000 to purchase a long length of pipe for either protection or a weapon? lol

Some of the weapons cost 5-digit sums!

I continue to shake my head at the "storyline" here, though the game has some interesting features like many other RPGs online. If I can continue to barely stomach the graphics and tone of this game, and it's insinuations that hobos are stupid (in need of education, starting with grade 1) and horrendously violent (a weapon store?), then I am still interested to see what I find around town in this game - aside from other player/hobo interactions.

One part of the game that I do find interesting, and from where nobody inside the game seems to actively beat on me, is the section where I can wander around just looking for cans, bottles, dropped money, and odd items. I gather a lot of money sometimes during my wandering, and then I can take the money to my bank account.

Strangely enough - I am a hobo in the game - who has no less than a tidy sum of $11, 000 in my bank account most of the time!

I purchased a FORK - for PROTECTION and as a weapon - for a mere $6, 000 a couple of months ago...

I purchased a CUP - a styrofoam cup - to use defensively as a weapon a couple of months ago, too. I cannot remember how much I paid for the cup now but it was a 4-digit cost to me - you know, the kind of styrofoam cup that would be FREE to any hobo in real life? One that a hobo would get for free when getting a drink at the doctor's (even a free health clinic) office - and would also contain a drink of free water or juice?

Perhaps I just continue to play this game out of that same kind of human mind phenomenon which makes people stand and stare at serial killer photographs in newspapers after the serial killers are incarcerated for life........ there's no purpose in this - nobody will RUN INTO the serial killer again, but everyone gawks and stares...

Google Makes Random Checks For Spam Content

Google Does Make Random Checks:

I was unable to post for quite a while. The google-bots set my blog aside to check it for unique content versus s-pam posts.

Naturally, my blog checked out a-okay, however, Google sure took a long time to get around to verifying that my posts are original content!

Since I was last able to post, I have advanced nicely in the Gladiatus role-playing game, I am happy to say.

I have attained level 19 with 31+ 'honour' points!

Anyhow, be reminded that Google takes spam seriously - and do make original posts as much as possible so that the big G doesn't label your blog as one with duplicate content.

That's all for now - I have just logged in to Gladiatus and tried to set up for battle in the arena but the competition right now is quite well above my league, so I won't stay in the arena. I'll have to settle for going to pick a different kind of battle at some other location on the map in the game.

BTW - The Gladiatus online game also added a new section on the map in the game. It's called the area of 'Grimwood' and grim, indeed, it is - if you're not careful where you wander!

That's where I'm headed right now - into Grimwood to track down a Bandit for Publican.

Gladiatus - Hero of Rome Game:

I have been playing the Glatiatus game for several months now and have finally attainted level 15 bonuses. The main bonus at level 14 is that the amount earned for working in the stables is basically doubled!

Players start with the following details that must be improved upon:
Strength points
Skill points
Agility points
Constitution points
Charisma points

Players also need to keep earning money (on quests, in battle, and with manual labour in the stables).

Players can buy better and better equipment along the way: food (restores health when 'hitpoints' have been decimated in battles and adventures), recipes, amulets, rings, armour, weapons, boosts/charm-spells to increase the value of weapons and other items.

Anyhow - I made it up to level 15, which is a turning point in 'wages' - the amount a player can earn just by working in the stables.

Current Stats for my Player:
Strength: 35 - out of a possible 54
Skill: 44 - out of a possible 66
Agility: 32 - out of a possible 58
Constitution: 45 - out of a possible 69
Charisma: 29 - out of a possible 51

Players do not start out with "0" - Zero values in these areas when they first start the game.

Here are the basic levels you'll have if you join the game:
Strength: 26
Skill: 34
Agility: 29
Constitution: 36
Charisma: 24

Leapster L-Max Learning Game Systems:

Many parents DO recognize how both games and making time for 'play' can positively influence the lives of their children. Computer technology combined with learning games can provide some extra mental stimulation that some parents appreciate, and this is what Leapster L-Max Learning Game System provides.

However, there are a couple of points that are drawbacks.

1. Parents need to be careful of putting the 'game' forward to teach their kids and allowing this to educate children instead of parents. In other words, parent need to regulate the time their children spend on computer games, even if these are learning games.

2. Some of the games for the L-Max are not necessarily classified as 'learning games,' so parents have to be aware of which games the child is putting in the system. A few of the games are action games that might promote or evoke a certain amount of violence. With supervision, sometimes games like this are alright for children, but unsupervised activities and lengthy to exposure to some games can be detrimental to a child's learning.

In order to make smart choices about children's games and game systems, parents will need to become familiar with this gaming system. There are different types of 'L-Max' systems, as well as several kinds of games.

Different kinds of games fit into the L-Max gaming systems in the form of 'cartridges,' so that parents can be involved in selecting what kinds of material children encounter with these gaming systems.

Although the Leapfrog shop that sells these systems generally promotes the cartridges as 'learning games,' I just wanted to post and make people aware that there are some cartridges that really aren't 'learning games.'

This doesn't mean that the 'other game' cartridges are BAD - it is just something that parents might want to be aware of and monitor, in case their child or children is sensitive to violence or has particular reactions to action-games that are not within a learning frame. Or simply, a parent might just want to limit how often a child has access to the 'game' cartridges for game-play versus making the 'learning game' cartridges available at all times.

Earning Currency in Level 2 Human Age

Human Age - Level 2 Currency

Well, I've been in level 2 for several weeks now and am still having problems figuring out how to earn enough to progress through this level.

I've managed to keep my wolf, so that is a bonus, and it doesn't 'cost' extra to keep my pet. A couple of people on my 'friends' list have actually started sending me 'gifts' to boost my 'morale points,' and that is very helpful, so I will keep plodding on, learning how to manage activities in the 'Celts' stage of Human Age.

I am starting to think that this is why 'marriages' are happening a lot in level 2...so that people are teamed up with their resources, helping each other. Hmmmm...

Meteorman at a Paid Arcade Online

Hey, I tracked down a place to play METEORMAN!

That game was big well over a decade ago - probably more like 2 decades ago.

I get paid when I play Meteorman over at ADVERBUX now. Excellent surprise.

I was just wondering where in the heck I could find that game, so I did a search online through Google Search engine. Some results that turned up took me to a place called 'addicting arcade' and I realized that these games were already connected with a program I joined a little while ago! I joined ADVERBUX a while ago to make some money online. I totally overlooked the arcade part of the program for a couple of weeks.

I searched inside my ADVERBUX members area, into the paid arcade pages and sure enough, Meteorman was there! So now, if I get a reasonable score (there are minimum scores that you have to acquire in order to submit your score for cash), I get paid for each attempt to get Meteorman to higher and tougher levels.

This online version of Meteorman is fairly difficult, in general, but the minimum score to submit and earn is really easy to get to.

Check out the paid arcade section - there are probably other games, oldies-but-goodies that you haven't seen in a while.

I'm going to check out the othello game next time I log in.

Age 2 Human Age - The Celts

The Celts Level 2 Human Age

Hey my hair is orange in level 2! I'm a red-headed Celt!

This age is taking much getting used to.

I lost everything I had from the first level - Except my trusty wolf pet *whew*

I haven't gotten the hang of the jobs in level 2 yet, but I'm working on it. Luckily, the Druids are around in level 2, just like they were in level 1 and if you visit them, they will give you food while you're saving up 'troutheads.' Troutheads are the currency in level two, and if you get there, you'll be in a fishing village, so almost all the jobs are fishing-related. There are other 'tasks,' too. I am not a very good fisherwoman yet, so I go on 'sweeping' excursions and get paid 8 units by doing that. Or, I gather raw materials for making things and then get set to work on the task that I want to accomplish.

There are a lot more things to do and accomplish in the 2nd age, but I'm keeping on top of it.

Here's the list of things that have to be accomplished in order to advance again to another level:

* Know how to live in a community.
* Discover woodworking.
* Know how to tame animals.
* Know how to sail.
* Know how to forge metal.
* Have maximum intelligence.
* Have maximum strength.
* Have maximum stamina.
* Have maximum health.
* Have maximum morale.
* Be at least 60 moons old.
* Weigh over 90 kilos.
* Not have any health problems.
* You have yet to take part in 5 punitive expeditions. (0/5)
* You don't have 3 medals from the challenge. (0/3) [This is not mandatory yet]
* You have to repay what you owe the bank.

That last part sucks! I already took out a loan at the village bank and that was about 6 days ago and I still haven't earned enough or saved enough to pay the loan back. It looks like I'm not going anywhere for a long time, so as my fishing skills increase, I'll make more money and be able to save a portion of this strictly for paying the village bank back in about another week and a half.

I'm not going to attempt any risky activities at all because I found that some risks I took in level 1 cost me a lot of currency. I'll just pay the bank back and stick to steady, safe tasks and hopefully this will allow me to advance faster than I did in level 1.

Or - I need to get me a rich spouse in level 2.

There are *yikes* MARRIAGES in level 2...kinda staying away from THAT until I am better familiar with this level.

Introducing Gladiatus Online RPG Game

I have a pet wolf in one game.

In another, I am battling a wolf in a faraway cave!

Gladiatus is another online role-play game that works in your browser. I've been testing the game out for a couple of weeks and like it quite a bit. I'll stick with this one and try to build my character over time. I've just gotten to level 3 and I took on a challenge to go to the caves and battle a wild wolf!

I'm "recruiting" GLADIATORS as well.

* A Tip - when you start as a Gladiator, get into the forum for the "Beginner's Guide" RIGHT AWAY. Don't make the most common mistakes when you first start. The game isn't terribly forgiving, so you don't want to cost your character heavy point loss by avoidable mistakes at the very start.

This guide is really straightforward and will only take you about 15 minutes to read if you're an average reader!

Advancing To a New Age

Advancing a Level at Human Age:

Tomorrow, I should advance to the next age of civilization on Human Age.

*crossing fingers*

I'm not sure how things work because this is the first time I'll advance since starting in the game, but hopefully the game allows me to keep the items I have acquired. I have a pretty nice hut now and worked hard to gain items for my hut in the game.

Someone still ROBBED ME last week grrrrrrr, however, I lost some kneecaps/cash but retained all important articles, so the dirty little robber didn't get away with much.

Anyhow - off to make sure my wolf is well fed, and I'm just waiting for the flip of the clock into tomorrow. Then I can find out what the next stage of the game is like, and how advancing a level works with my character, pet, and belongings!

Pet Wolf at Human Age

A little wolf was wandering outside my cavegal hut a while ago...

He looked a little hungry, so after a couple of days I shared some of my food with him...

Now he's my trusty pet!

He went on a Mammoth hunt with me several weeks ago, too! We both got kind of hurt - someone SHOT MY WOLF during the mammoth hunt.....but really it wasn't intentional - so I didn't start 'nothin' up with the one whose stray arrow glanced off my wolf's shoulder. We both made it back home to safety and healed right up again.

Why didn't I post sooner when I first got the wolf at Human-Age?

Well - because he came around several times before he actually stayed and I thought I would JINX myself if I got too excited and posted about his appearance to me during the game!

Now, he and I have been through the Mammoth hunt together, a couple of 'plunderings' and during a freaky change of weather, we both got a li'l sick for a while, but Kanux stuck around and didn't leave. Now, it's safe to say that he is actually my pet and not just a straggler wandering along.

I've managed to get through 3 major QUESTS for my 'age' and Kanux guarded my place so it didn't get robbed while I had to do some overnight quest 'tests.'

I had to take out another loan in the middle of one of my quests 'cos I made a WRONG CHOICE right in the midst of things, but in a few more nights, with Kanux helping me on the nocturnal hunts, I will get more 'game' to sell at the market and can pay back the loan. Then I can double check on my status within my age to see how much longer I will be a prehistoric cavewoman before advancing to the next level.

I think I get to keep Kanux when I advance, and I like that idea a lot. I have heard that the next available pet in the new advanced age that I will go to next is...
.....it's a snake!

*shiver*

I'm kinda creeped out about that, actually...maybe I will remain a cavewoman just an extra bit longer 'til I get used to the idea of snake-pets LOL

I was browsing around and I came across a few awesome FREE Screensavers. These are in the theme of one of my favourite games, Starcraft.

Yes, I know, I know, I'm a little behind the times and there are dozens of strat games besides Starcraft but I don't care - I still LOVE STARCRAFT!

So, do you want the screensavers or not? They're from the "Mosaic," "Horde," and "Alliance" StarCraft themes.

Okay - first of all, before you go grab your cool Starcraft screensavers, don't freak out about the 'buy' button. I copied code so I could show the cool graphic for each screensaver. The link will take you to a $0.00 download, so you won't pay anything.

Evolution of Video Games

Here's a great video clip of still shots detailing the evolution of video games systems, starting from 'Spacewar' games and systems like, Magnavox Odyssey - Coleco Telstar - Atari, Nintendo TV console, through several more Atari models to the Nintendo NES and Sega systems...

There are some great shots of the first gameboy models and top loading, side-loading, front-loading and all kinds of consoles, too.

This video is about 7 minutes long. The audio selection sounds very much like one of the old stand-up arcade game soundtracks, but I haven't tracked down information to confirm this yet. Maybe you will recognize where the audio comes from.

Yay - Paid off my Cavewoman Loan Today

I have officially paid off the loan I borrowed from my clan! Human Age RPG has loans available from your set clan - if you desperately need them.

I still have enough left over to buy new furnishings for my cave-dwelling. I'm still waiting for a wolf to come by so I can tame it and have a pet, but a nicer looking home will help entice a wolf...or, so they say in the forums!

Human Age Survival:

I saved my Human Age character!

I was on 'day 1' of almost losing her. THe game allows you a few days to catch up and save your character from complete extinction. This means that your character can be revived and keep most stats.

After several days, however, if you completely forget to log in, the game will make your character disappear - game over for your character - extinction.

So, anyhow - my character is actually quite well off still. I had to revive her and fix a 'common cold' that she got while I was away. Her job just ended yesterday, so even though I forgot to log in for several days, the game kept my character going to work every day, so she still got paid her wages - and consequently, was able to buy some medicine right away for the cold.

Now my stats are A-OKAY! I selected a new job for my character, set her hunting grounds, made sure to get her enough water to drink and buy some extra water (the community well has gone dry, so characters cannot drink from there - they have to buy water from the storage area) - made sure my character ate enough to gain some weight (she ate a sabre toothed tiger heh), and she should be good to go until TOMORROW when I log in again.

First Hunt With No Unpleasant Incidents

Hunting at Human Age RPG Game Online

Wow, I just completed the FIRST hunt ever where I did NOT get hurt or have to turn back home to mend!

I even forgot to check my Human Age character in her prehistoric world - while I was off at classes this week.

Amazing!

Plus, I was 'Marsh Hunting' where the prey isn't so big, but I nabbed a Laughing Parasaurus along the way - which doesn't happen often for me. This creature actually has some (laughing because I already ate it and because of it's name - in fact, because of this whole statment I'm making LOL) nutritional value!

And I only have 1 more moon to remain a 'water carrier' labourer, so I can switch jobs tomorrow! I think I can start my 'fire quest' tomorrow, too. Woo hoo!

Change Hunting Grounds On Tuesdays

Special Tuesday at Human Age Online RPG Game:

At Human Age, you can change Hunting Grounds without penalty...

BUT ONLY ON TUESDAYS!

I just went into my account to check on my PreHistoric woman 'teeray' (go figure)

Teeray's luck wasn't so good on the Marsh Hunting grounds, so I moved Teeray.

Now she's hunting in the Forest, where the animals are bigger and more dangerous.

I made sure Teeray had a decent store of 'currency' first, because usually Teeray comes home from Forest Hunting with some injuries. If that happens again, Teeray will be able to get some medicine, bandages and 'cures' from the store once she's out of the Forest.

Usually Teeray gets a bigger 'catch/loot' from Forest Hunting, so I hope that will be the case tonight.

Hunting is considered a 'nocturnal' activity and characters should have a 'day job' in order to gain currency and advance in the game.

Teeray will be a 'water carrier' for 12 more moons - but this brings pay PLUS Teeray gets to stock up on her own personal water levels as a bonus.

With the "Wood Gatherer" job, players earn pay PLUS a bonus of adding to their personal wood stock, as well.

The 'Stone Chooser' job requires that you purchase a hammer, so you can't do this job if you don't have enough 'currency' to get the hammer. It pays the most of all the jobs, but it is the longest 'job contract,' (30 moons) and the hardest labour.

I will decide, within the next 12 moons, whether Teeray will take the Wood Gatherer or the Stone Chooser job. I think Wood Gatherer will be good because I think I can keep Teeray's health stats, currency level, morale, strength, and everything else up enough to start a "Quest" as a 'Fire Starter' the next time I am working as a Wood Gatherer!

Anyhow - Teeray has to go off to the Market in the Human Age world now. She needs to check on prices - to see what her Hunting Catch will bring in once she's trapped some creatures in the Forest tonight!

Teeray is 48 moons old now, and going strong!

When I logged in to play over at the Human Age website, I saw this important message for members:

IMPORTANT: Starting next week, we will be checking ALL accounts for computer, network or IP sharing! So if you haven't notified us yet, send that message NOW! Please include all account names, thanks!

Human Age doesn't allow multiple accounts. In fact, you'll be banned if you try to create multiple accounts. The site does, however, allow family members (or room-mates, I suppose) to each have an account through the same computer IP. There are specific qualifications for making sure that each person has their own GAME ID, even if they have to use the same computer. This is a bit complicated, and gamers who are already doing this will probably already know how all of this works.

I just thought I would post the admin message - in case someone has forgotten to log in for a few days.

So - CHECK IT OUT - If you haven't been to Human Age in a while - go check your account! If you're one of the users sharing a computer with another Human Age player, make sure you get things straightened out.

Okay - that's all - I gotta run - I logged in to the game already and I KNOW I'm in big trouble with my game because I FORGOT TO LOG IN for 2 days. My character is in BIG TROUBLE and I have to go save her before she dies!

Oh - by the way - I see from my members area that the Human Age world is still very cold, down to -11 degrees in some locations - so here's a double reminder to LOG IN to your area and CHECK ON YOUR Character. Put some wood on your fires so your game character doesn't freeze to death!

*whew* Luckily, I'm a wood carrier for another several moons, so I already know that I have a LOT of wood stored up for this cold season!

NES Game Systems: A Great Way to Relive Old Games

With the variety of various and different gaming consoles appearing in the market today, integrated with the very latest graphics and audio technology, you will might be hard pressed to imagine that gaming consoles originated from simple, humble beginnings.

If you are familiar with the Nintendo GameCube, you have to know that it all originated in a gaming console called Nintendo Entertainment System or NES.

Mention 'Nintendo,' and usually, the first thing that comes to mind is "video games." Nintendo has been producing and manufacturing different kinds of gaming consoles since the video game market was still in its very infancy.

Unlike the gaming consoles of today that you'll commonly see, perhaps, ones developed by Sony and Microsoft, by contrast, Nintendo is purely involved in the gaming industry. Nintendo concentrates almost solely on gaming.

Sony is known for hardware and many other gadgets (tape recorders, radios, televisions, VCRs, etc). Microsoft, of course, is known for developing software and computers.

Nintendo has been in the business of video games for a very long time and still remains as one of the best manufacturers of gaming consoles today.

With Nintendo's Game Cube, you would almost never expect that Nintendo also developed a primitive gaming console that was one of the most popular in the world. Nintendo started out with NES or the Nintendo Entertainment System.

NES is has been one of the most popular, well established, widely distributed video gaming consoles in its time and is also a "best selling" video gaming console. Games for the NES system were simple but highly entertaining, and kept users engaged for hours. Two of the most successfully distributed and favorite games from NES are "Mario Bros." and "Tetris."

In fact, NES games are so entertaining that many people today who owned NES gaming console from years back are still hooking up their old NES gaming console to their TV and play their old NES games today. It is also a fact that NES games still attract people who will buy a console online or who will download specific NES games that they can play on their own computer.

NES gaming consoles were in fact the best selling consoles within the Nintendo company. Even their latest gaming console called the GameCube can’t compete in terms of sales against the NES. Nintendo had an estimated 61.9 million dollars in sales for NES worldwide while that particular console was in its prime. GameCube only sold units to the tune of 20.9 million dollars. This may be because other competition in the gaming console industry has interfered with GameCube sales, while NES systems dominated the market and had less competition years ago, however, this still only shows NES to be one of the best gaming consoles ever developed in the world. In NES's prime, certain other gaming and console companies would have been crazy to try to compete.

NES also has a wide variety of games. Because there are so many games available, this gives gamers a very wide range of choices about how to spend their time gaming. Prior to the NES system, there were a few other relatively nice consoles, but these only had very few game choices to accompany the console. NES dominated the gaming markets for a long time before some more advanced gaming systems arrived on the scene from Sony and Microsoft.

Although it is true that certain companies finally came out with more advanced systems, NES didn't completely die away. Nor should one consider NES 'GONE' to this very day, because there are still TONS of people who enjoy NES games on NES consoles. To boot, NES games are also very readily available online. You can download NES on the internet for extremely reasonable prices!

NES has some rather primitive games, however, the company develops engaging, entertaining games as well. If you have played with a NES before, you know how fun and attention-getting their games can be. With a lot of popular game titles, you will surely never run out of games to play with the NES.

So, if you feel like playing NES games again, all you have to do is hook your NES gaming console to your TV, choose the game you want to play and relive the time when you where still young and loved to play different NES games.

With NES, even your kids will enjoy playing with the old games. Even if you have the latest gaming console with different game titles, you will surely want to play with the NES over and over again.

However, if you don’t have a NES gaming console, you can still buy it through the internet. The main NES consoles were built with surprising sturdiness and decade-old systems are often playable today in 'good as new' shape, offering the same performance as they put out well over a decade ago.

Or, you can download NES games and play then on your home PC. Different emulators are available today - all over the place - which will enable you to play NES games to your heart's content.
